We are just about a month away from high school graduation at a number of local St. Louis schools. The caps and gowns are likely already in the possession of thousands of eager and excited teenagers, which means one thing is inevitably on their minds. How to stand out and make this a graduation that you will be proud of for years to come.
You don’t want to look at your pictures with a cringe after all!
One of the best ways to make this the best graduation is by making sure you are on par and ready for the camera!

Here are five top notch tips to get you looking your best and standing out amongst the crowd.

  1. Get Your Kicks!

We all know that those gowns aren’t the most flattering and sometimes even the colors can be downright frightening! There is no better way to spruce it up and display your amazing personality, than with your shoes. Whether they be fun strappy heels in complimentary colors or the perfect pair of Chuck’s signed by all your friends, you can be sure this is a detail that will not be overlooked.

  2. Curls for Days!

Getting the perfect hairstyle when you are going to have to cover it with a square cap can be tricky. If you have got long hair you’ve got it a bit easier, as long loose curls will always be the perfect match. If your hair is shorter, don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through and try something new. Just make sure that your style looks good both with and without the cap. It will be coming off to make it’s ceremonial soar through the sky after all!

  3. A Pop Of Color or Smoke.

Your hair and shoes are done – but don’t forget to plan that makeup! The last thing you want is to be caught without that perfect color on the day of! Bold colors on the lips are all the rage right now, and a bright red color may be the perfect complement. Not sure about a bright, bold, color? Consider a smokey eye or a pop of shimmer on your lids. Just be mindful of complimentary colors to your gown – you would hate to be caught with a bright orange robe and the eyeshadow to match.

  4. Dress to the Nines!

Even though your dress will be covered by your robe for much of your graduation, there are after parties to think of. You want to look your best through the night, and the best way is by picking the right duds to reveal at just the right moment. Find something short and flirty that will match your shoes to a key to make heads turn and every picture be one for the wall.

  5. Don The Cap!

One of the biggest trends of the last few years is decorating your cap top with messages or images that describes your highschool experience. Before you go all out make sure you have purchasing power, or a way to remove the design if it’s a rental – but once all the t’s are crossed go to town! This is one of the best ways to make a statement – don’t miss out on this chance to have the last word!

The day of your graduation is one to remember, and you can make it that way with just a few tweaks and tricks!
Happy Graduation from everyone here at The Salon Professional Academy St. Louis! We wish you all the luck in your future endeavours!
